Epson EB-U04 Projector
C08The projector for meetings, presentations and screenings in the coworking room. The resolution is WUXGA, 1920 × 1200 — slightly taller than ordinary Full HD, and those extra 120 lines show up exactly where they are wanted: in a table, in code on screen, in a slide with small text.
Three thousand lumens is enough that you do not have to turn the lights fully off. The picture will be paler in a lit room, but readable.
What it is good for
- Meetings and presentations in the coworking room
- Talks and screenings at events
- Putting code or a schematic on the wall when there are more than three people round the table
- A film in the evening, if the wall suits
- Taking along to an event elsewhere
Connecting it
- HDMI is the main input, and there are two. A cable is provided; a USB-C laptop needs an adapter, and that one is yours.
- Switch the projector on and pick the source with Source Search if it has not found it itself.
- Set focus and size with the rings on the lens: the near one is focus, the far one zoom.
- Keystone correction is in the menu, but it is better to stand the projector square: digital correction eats sharpness.
- The built-in speaker is weak. For anything beyond a voice in a quiet room, bring external speakers.
About the lamp
This projector has a lamp, not an LED, and it is consumed: 5000 hours, up to ten thousand in eco mode.
- Do not pull the plug out of a running projector. After switch-off the fan has to cool the lamp, which takes a minute or two. A hot lamp with no airflow lives noticeably less.
- Do not block the vents and do not stand the projector on anything soft.
- If a lamp-life message appears on screen, tell us rather than ignoring it.
Renting it
The projector goes out to events and home. Take it with its power lead and the HDMI cable; an adapter for your own laptop is your own. The daily rate and the term are in the rental block on this page.
Access
The projector is in the coworking room, so a plan with coworking access is enough. No induction is needed.
